Ivone Ralha

Ivone Ralha was born in Lisbon in 1958.
She attended secondary education in Cascais (architecture area), followed by a year’s internship in Daciano da Costa’s studio before leaving for Mozambique, where she lived from 1977 to 1984. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in History at the Eduardo Mondlane University, worked in the Historical Archive of Mozambique and was a lecturer in History and Technical Design at the Centre for Cultural Studies in Maputo.
After returning to Portugal, she began her career in graphic design at Editorial Caminho (1984-1988). She then worked at Vila Franca de Xira Town Hall (1988-1989) before joining the founding team of Público newspaper at the invitation of Henrique Cayatte, (1989-2005). With Henrique Cayatte, she would later work on Diário de Notícias (2006-2007: editor, António José Teixeira) and Cubo magazine (2007-2009: editor, Cristina Cordeiro). She was also a member of the team of jornal i newspaper (until 2013) before becoming art editor of the Rede Angola website (2013-2017).

She currently works on the Ípsilon supplement of Público newspaper. She designs and creates layouts for books, newspapers and magazines, designs infographics, illustrates and paints (she has participated in several collective and one-woman exhibitions in Portugal, Helsinki and Brussels).
