Gonçalo F. Santos
Gonçalo F. (Fernandes) Santos was born in Lisbon on 15th September 1981, exactly 216 years after Bocage, with whom he shares his birthday, his free spirit, and his taste for what is great and beautiful. He is not a poet, however: he is a photographer.
If his academic career was undistinguished – in the course of Modern and Contemporary History at ISCTE – there is something more to photography, though. After training at CENJOR, his work reached the pages of national and international newspapers (The NY Times, El País, DN, Público and Expresso, among others), and magazines such as Egoísta, GQ, Vogue, AD, or Time Out. Along the way, he photographed publicity campaigns for 004, The Hotel, DigitalMix, Navigator, Sonae, and others, and musicians who, together, would make up a great festival line-up: Marcelo Camelo, Mallu Magalhães, Buraka Som Sistema, Carlos do Carmo, Deolinda. When he is not holding a camera or editing photographs, he is most likely to be busy being Abel's father.
